All Crystal Cruise Line ships were designed to be accessible for the disabled and physically challenged. Crystal ships have specially equipped penthouses and staterooms as well as ramp access to most decks and public areas.
Closed-Captioned Decoders
Crystal Symphony offers closed-captioned programming on selected programs as indicated by "CC" in the entertainment guide. Guests can contact the Front Desk to activate this feature. Movie dialogue scrolls along the bottom of the television screen.
Public Areas and Open Decks
Crystal's public areas including dining rooms, lounges and restrooms are specially designed to be accessible to disabled guests.
All of Crystal's outside decks are accessible to disabled guests. The Promenade Deck is easily accessible on both sides by large ramps located next to the disabled-equipped staterooms. Ramps are available at sliding glass doors leading outside.
Crystal's elevators can accommodate wheelchairs and allow access to all public decks. Each elevator is also equipped with convenient, low control buttons.
Ship to Shore Access
When Crystal Harmony and Crystal Symphony are anchored, crew members and Security assist disabled guests at the gangway to the tender boats and also in and out of the tenders at the shoreside pier. Depending upon the weather and other factors, the ships' Captains reserve the right to determine whether it is safe or not for a disabled guest to go ashore via a tender boat.
When Crystal ships are docked along a pier, crew members and Security assist disabled guests at the gangway (located on either Crystal Deck Five or Tiffany Deck Six) to the shore. In special cases, disabled guests can be assisted shoreside at a special ramp located on Deck Four.
Shore Excursions
Disabled guests interested in special port transportation or information on ports that offer shore excursions with disabled facilities should contact Crystal Cruises' Onboard Guest Services Department prior to sailing.
Transfers
Alternative transportation arrangements can be made for disabled guests to and from the airport and to and from both ships when Crystal Cruises' Reservations Department/Onboard Guest Services Department is alerted at the time of booking.
It is highly recommended that a disabled guest be accompanied by an able traveling companion.
Assistance for the Hearing Impaired
In the Hollywood Theatres where movies are shown, a StarSound Infrared Hearing System is available. The system allows a hearing-impaired guest to wear a headset with a lightweight receiver one hangs around the neck.
Pregnancy
Crystal is unable to accommodate women past 24 weeks of pregnancy.
Booking a Cruise for Passengers with a Disability
If you do indeed require special assistance on your cruise, please do not book your cruise online. Accessible cabins are not always shown online.
