Cu Chi Tunnel Exploration
On the pleasant drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels, known during the Vietnam war time as the Iron Triangle, you'll encounter a rubber plantation and authentic rice paddies in the countryside. This Ho Chi Minh tour has plenty in store for you, at a low price.
The vast Cu Chi Tunnels (155 miles long) weaved its way under villages while serving as a military base for the Viet Cong. Amazingly, a large U.S. military base (the 25th Infantry) was located above the tunnels. Prior to descending into the tunnels, you'll see a short video which summarizes the installation's use.
Then you'll explore the maze of tunnels, which have been widened for better viewing. There are meeting rooms, medical areas, kitchens, and storerooms for weapons. Also on display are multiple mantraps.
Above ground are the remains of an American tank, plus numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. Naturally, there's a way to commemorate your visit at the souvenir shop.
Following a local lunch in the nearby city of Saigon, if time permits, you'll have the opportunity to visit Ben Thanh market. Shop and witness the high pace of people handling business in this melodious marketplace.
Throughout this unique Saigon tour, your knowledgeable guide will elaborate on the many places you see here in "The Pearl of the Far East."
Please Note: Western-style food is available upon request at the time of booking for an additional fee to be paid on the day of your tour (not included, approximately $10 US).
