Oceania Cruises Health & Safety Protocols
Introducing Oceania Cruises' SailSAFE Health and Safety Program
Oceania Cruises' vision is to be the vacation of choice for everyone around the world. That's why they've enhanced their commitment to health and safety with the SailSAFE program. To protect their guests, crew and communities they visit, Oceania Cruises has developed a robust and comprehensive health and safety strategy. Their science-backed plan for a safe and healthy return to cruising was developed in conjunction with a diverse group of globally recognized experts and will be continuously evaluated using the latest science and technology.
Pre-Cruise Vaccinations, Screening & Check In
Vaccination & Testing Requirements
For voyages departures through September 2, 2022
All guests sailing are required to be fully vaccinated, at least 2 weeks prior to departure, in order to board. For embarkation from European ports, the EU definition of fully vaccinated is as follows:
A passenger or crew member who carries a proof of vaccination, and at least 14 days and no more than 270 days have passed since the last dose of the primary vaccination series or if the person has received a third dose.
Any guest whose primary COVID-19 vaccination will be beyond 270 days at the time of disembarkation from their voyage must have a COVID-19 "booster" at least 14 days prior to embarkation.
For voyages departures on or after September 3, 2022
Oceania Cruises has revised their SailSafe Health and Safety protocols to be simpler, easier, and offer all travelers an open door to explore the world. Effective September 3, 2022, for all sailings embarking from that date forward, Vaccinated travelers will no longer need to test to embark a sailing and Unvaccinated travelers may embark by providing proof of a negative Antigen or PCR test not more than 72 hours old. Ease of access to travel is also provided for guests of all ages as children will also be welcomed without restriction of age or vaccination status. Certain destinations have specific requirements which will vary from these new base-level protocols.
Additional Pre-Embarkation Health Screening
For sailings embarking on or after August 1, 2022, Oceania Cruises will no longer require guests to produce a negative covid test to embark their cruise, subject to local regulations.
Please Note: Voyages embarking from the United States, Canada and Greece as well as those sailing to Bermuda, will still require a negative covid test at embarkation, until further notice.
Socially Responsible Check-In
Oceania has designed an enhanced, staggered embarkation process and new check-in system to streamline check in for guests by allowing documents to be signed electronically.
Additionally, embarkation terminals will be disinfected continuously, and where possible, fogged before and after each embarkation and debarkation.
Face Mask Requirements & Onboard Health Monitoring
Face Mask Requirements
As a general rule, for all voyages calling in Italian and Greek ports, guests must wear face masks at all times when outside of their stateroom or suite except when actively eating or drinking while the vessel is in port. Italian regulations mandate that guests wear a medical grade KN95 or FFP2 face mask.
For all other voyages, face coverings remain optional for guests. Oceania Cruises continues to strongly recommend that all guests wear face coverings when outside of their accommodations.
Officers and Crew will continue to remain masked at all times.
Oceania Cruises strongly recommends all guests travel with an adequate supply of medical grade masks, commonly known as surgical masks, FFP2 masks, or KN-95 masks. Should you require additional masks while traveling, all ships will be adequately stocked. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Please note: this guidance is subject to change without notice as the global health map evolves.
Hand Sanitation
All guests will be required to engage in frequent handwashing. Hand sanitizer will be prominently placed and easily accessible throughout the ship.
Safety Aboard Oceania Ships
Continuous Ship-Wide Cleaning & Disinfection Measures
Comprehensive enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols have been implemented throughout the cruise experience. The 24/7 prevention schedule features continual disinfection of public areas and high-traffic touch points using EPA-approved disinfectants. Guest accommodations will receive intensive non-toxic microbial disinfection daily.
Upgraded Medical-Grade Air Filtration Systems
To provide cleaner air for our guests we are strategically installing medical-grade air filters of the highest filtration grade, MERV 13 or HEPA according to the type of HVAC system installed on board. The upgraded H13 HEPA air filters are capable of removing 99.9% of airborne pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus), the virus that causes COVID-19. A new air treatment technology, bio-polar ionization, has been adopted to continuously disinfect the air in occupied spaces.
Enhanced Onboard Medical Teams & Health Services
Oceania Cruises is improving their onboard medical capabilities with additional staffing relative to capacity and enhanced facilities. This includes an increase in intensive care unit capacity, new and upgraded equipment, onshore medical institution partnerships, telemedicine capabilities and additional robust consultation and treatment options. Onboard medical centers are abundantly stocked with common prescription medications, remedies, and virus-testing equipment. Complimentary consultations and treatments are provided for covid-19 related illness.
Dedicated Public Health Officer
Each ship will have a dedicated Public Health Officer on board. This expert is responsible for the oversight of all outbreak prevention initiatives. They will oversee the day-to-day sanitation and cleanliness of all public areas and accommodations. Each ship will also have an Infectious Disease Prevention Officer on board.
Safety Ashore
Contact Tracing
If a positive case of COVID-19 occurs, we have various contact tracing methodologies to identify and notify those who may have been exposed.
Isolation/Quarantine
If you test positive during the course of your voyage and are required to quarantine, we will make every effort to accommodate you in your current stateroom or suite. In some instances, local regulations may require that Oceania accommodates you in dedicated isolation accommodations all of which have a private veranda. They will also provide you with a full range of dining options for all meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices from the daily Grand Dining Room menu during established restaurant hours in addition to the 24 hour room service menu. Please be aware that quarantine protocols dictate that our crew may not enter your stateroom or suite and therefore all meals will be delivered to your door but they may not provide for in-room dining set up. Similarly, they may not provide in-room housekeeping services during your isolation period but the team will happily deliver fresh towels, linens, and other in-room supplies as requested.
Disembarkation Scenarios
Oceania has developed a thorough mobilization and response plan focused on providing medical treatment, collaborating with local authorities and coordinating safe passage home for all guests and crew should the need arise. They have established relationships with onshore medical institutions and enhanced their telemedicine consultation capabilities.
